Edit a community member name

Introduction

School administrators can edit the name of a community member in School community profiles.

Edit names

To edit the name of a community member, go to School community profiles>Community member profiles.

  1. Enter the name of the community member in the search box and select Search.
  2. Select the community member name in the list of results to view the profile details. Information already entered about the person displays.
  3. Select Edit to enable editing. 
  4. Edit the first name, surname, other given name or preferred name, or select Extended names to display more options. 

Edit extended names  

To edit the extended names you have for the person, select View. You can edit any of these names:

 

Field name 

Description 

Override legal surname 

If the person has legally changed their name.  

Suffix 

Qualifications that display after the name, for example Mr Simon Nguyen GP, or Ms  Sian Lee OBE. 

Maiden name 

The person’s unmarried name, if they had one.  

Previous surname 

A former name of the person, if they had one.  

Override mail format 

The format for names displayed on mail. Useful for families with more than 2 carers. Select from the drop-down list.  

Override salutation format 

Change the default settings for this profile only. Examples are Mr, Mr & Mrs, Mr and Mrs. 

Override salutation preferred Format 

Change the default settings for this profile only. Examples are Simon, Sian. 

 

Select Save to save your changes or Cancel all to return to the profile. 

Edit display names

Your school system administrator has set up default display names for all community profiles.

You can now edit the list of display names for this profile only.

When finished, select Save to save your changes or Cancel all to return to the profile.
