This guide shows you how to create a Student overview set-up (template). You'll customise it for your school's reports and then activate the template.

Start a new student overview template

To start a new student overview set-up (template), go to Academic reporting > Set up reports.
Select Student overview from the list.

  1. In Student overview set-up, give the template a name and add a page title:
  • Set-up title: Enter the name of the template. You'll see this on the Set up reports page, so label the template clearly. For example, 'Student overview Semester 1 2024'.
  • Page title: Add the title that shows on the report page. For example, ‘Student overview, Semester 1 2024'.

Next, you’ll add sections for leadership to leave comments or feedback in the academic reports.

Add leadership reports

Sometimes, comments and feedback from leadership get included in reports. These comments could come from roles like head of year, head of house or the principal.

  1. First, switch on Leadership reports. The leadership reports section will display.
  2. In Section title, add a name to this section. This shows on the reports, and it should refer to the role of the staff member giving feedback in this section. For example, 'Principal's comments'.
  3. Select the staff member or leadership role you want to assign to this section. Staff assigned to this section are responsible for adding feedback to this section.
  4. To assign a specific leadership role to this section, select Leadership. To assign a specific staff member, select Individual. For example, selecting 'Head of house' assigns the head of this student's house to add feedback. Now, select the staff member or leadership role from the list.
  5. To add more sections for leadership feedback, select Add role

If your school doesn't need to include feedback from leadership, switch off Leadership reports.

You'll see a confirmation message that attendance will get added automatically.

  1. Select Manually.
  2. Go to Assign to and select Leadership role
  3. In Leadership role, use the dropdown list to select the role responsible for adding attendance to this report.
  4. To assign to a specific staff member, go to Assign to > Individual.
  5. Then, use the drop-down list in Select staff member and select the staff member responsible for adding attendance to this report.

Next, you'll add how the attendance will display on the reports.

  • Show days enrolled in an academic period shows the student's enrolled days as a number
  • Show days absent shows the number of days a student was absent
  • Show % rate for attendance to display a student's attendance as a percentage amount

Next, you'll add details to the Leadership reports section of the student overview template.
