Introduction
A general ledger year is the major reporting period for the general ledger entity. It’s a period of 12 months.
The school’s business manager assigns each general ledger transaction and batch to a general ledger year.
By default, a general ledger year record is pre-set in Zunia. You can edit the year to match with the needs of your school.
Edit the default year
To get started, go to your finance entity and select Finance settings > General ledger settings, and then select General ledger years.
To edit the default year, go to Actions > Edit.
In Edit general ledger year, select the year.
Make sure that the general ledger year is 4 digits long.
The year that you set for this default record will mark the basis for other year records to follow on. For example, if you edit the default year to 2022, the record you add next will follow on with 2023.Select the end date. It is normally the last day of the year.
Select Save.
You’ve now edited the default year.
Next, in General ledger years, go to Actions > Activate for this record.
You’ve now activated your edited default year.
Add the next general ledger year
To add the next year, in General ledger years select Add.
In Add next general ledger year, the year and end date automatically follow and is greater than the previous year.
Select Save.
You’ve now added the next year.
Next, in General ledger years, go to Actions > Activate to activate the general ledger year you added.
You’ve now activated your general ledger year.
Note: You can add transactions only into an activated general ledger year.
