Introduction
When a parent or guardian notifies the school of an absence by phone, email, SMS or voicemail, it will need to be added in Zunia and will appear in Attendance > Absence notes (parents)
When a parent or guardian adds an absence via the School app it’ll automatically be added to Zunia and will appear in Attendance > Absence notes (parents).
Zunia then helps resolve absences faster by matching parent notes to unexplained absence records in Attendance > Resolve absences.

Note: How can an absence note from a parent be Not approved? Feedback from schools has indicated there may be times particularly where a parent is notifying the school of their child’s intended leave for a family holiday as an example. Even though the school can’t physically stop the child from going on holiday, they can record the absence note as Not approved for their records and reporting requirements.
