Academic year set the date ranges for terms and semesters within an academic year. They form the backbone for academic features across Zunia. From Timetables, to Attendance, to Marks book and Academic reports.
For example, you need to create all of your terms and semesters within academic years before you can set up academic reports, view terms in attendance or you'll have to manually define dates in STATS rather than select a period in the compliance report.
Organisations may have separate structure for each of their sub-schools and campuses.
Add an academic year
To add an academic year, go to School configuration > School structure and select Add academic year
- Enter an academic year code and year.
- Enter a date range for this academic year.
- Once a date range is entered, you can Add terms as academic periods.
- If your terms fit within semesters, you can Add semesters.
- Make this Active so you can apply the academic year to classes, Marks book and academic reports.
- Select Save.
You've added an academic year.
Notes
- Codes can be the same word or number or combination of both - whatever makes sense to your school community e.g. "2024" or "JR2024" or "SR2024". Codes must be unique for each academic year.
- Dates for the first term and last term must match the first and last dates of the academic year.
- An academic year must have at least 1 term and you can add as many terms to reflect the number of terms in an academic year at your school.
- The number of semesters will depend on the number of terms added and can be applied to 1 or more terms, e.g. Semester 1 could start in Term 1 and end in Term 2.
